The Kala Solid Flame Maple Tenor Ukulele stands out from the crowd. This four-string is crafted from solid Flame Maple on the top, back, and sides; a tonewood known for its punchy, clear projection and a tone towards the brighter side of the spectrum. It's not the most common tonewood either, which only makes it more desirable and unique.
Physically, this uke is very promising. The slotted headstock adds class. The Purpleheart rosette adds elegance. The cutaway is probably the most interesting feature. Unlike the common Venetian cutaway, which is rounded, this tenor has a Florentine cutaway (note how the cutaway sharply ends). I can't think of another uke that has this enviable idiosyncrasy. Definitely a nice addition from Kala. If you're into unique instruments, you'll appreciate the excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into making this ukulele.
